St. Michael's College involvement in community service has become an indispensable feature of the institutional formation process. Foregoing the outreach approach in community work, it has made the poor no longer preferential or optional but rather it has become a social responsibility of the institution towards nation - building.

Given this renewed thrusts, the institution have already stepped up all efforts in bringing the whole Michaelite community in its undertaking in transforming communities and the Filipino society, in the long run, the Philippines as a nation.

Programs have been developed and implemented tailored - fit to the charisma of the institution being Catholic, Filipino and Ignacian Marian.

Crucial to the success is the need for more partners especially with the increasing need for appropriate resources to sustain all implemented and planned programs. But the vast and untapped resources within Iligan City and even in its nearby provinces provide the doorway to many opportunities through partnerships and linkages.

	U Rock Michaelite Given the potential and the energy of the students of St. Michael's College, the program provides the avenue for them to unleash it in coming up with new ideas and initiatives for community development at the same time empowering the students for social transformation and for nation - building as well.
	National Service Training Program Ensuring that every Michaelite will be a catalyst for social transformation, the National Service Training Program uses Gawad Kalinga Isang Milyong Bayani as its avenue to achieve its objectives. GK constantly seeks to share and instill in the youth good citizenship through volunteerism.
	Batang Sikat ug Kusgan The program was designed as the major component of the Iligan City Task Force 47 - 74 1, a local education alliance that seeks to reverse the education crisis. Through the 136 day feeding cycle, the program seeks to improve the low retention rate in the public schools and achieve significant academic and physical performance of the students.
	Gawad Kalinga Builders Institute This is the Institute for volunteer and sustainability trainings for Gawad Kalinga in Iligan City using its spirit, science and system in community development. It also serves as the training center for non - GK communities.
	Iskolar in Miguel The Michaelite Alumni Community has never been closely involved in any of the extension programs of the institution. Over the years, many of our alumni whenever they visit the campus usually hands over donations or cash gifts for any of our extension programs. Given the global crisis that has affected many of the poor but academically deserving students. This program allows the Alumni community to take part in this effort through an institutionalized scholarship program.
	Mikels GO 100 This is the resource generation arm of the Center which aims to rally the whole Michaelite community and its network of partners in sustaining all undertakings.
	Special Projects The active participation of the Center in various movements and alliances in addressing variety of social concerns has allowed SMC to participate and contribute its human, technical and financial resources.

The Center is currently involved with:

• The Philippine Association of Extension Program Implementors (PAEPI), the professional organization of extension workers. A chapter has been organized in the City of Iligan.
• The SIGNSVILLE or the Iligan School for Deaf Relocation Project, a multi - sectoral alliance that aims to relocate the Iligan School for Deaf after previous facilities was washed out by the recent floods. The project aims to build a new haven for the deaf students complete with administrative, academic and spiritual development plans.
• The Iligan City Center for Peace based in MSU - IIT has been consolidating various stakeholders in the city and in the Lanao provinces focused on conflict resolution, peace building initiatives and disaster preparedness management program.
• The Center through the GK Builders Institute and upon the request of Gawad Kalinga - ANCOP USA arranged the field work of a research conducted by Paul Ogalo from Brandeis University on Conflict and Co - Existence in selected cities and provinces in Mindanao.
• The Center also attempted to pilot the Muslim Affairs Office, a program that provides opportunities for the promotion of inter - faith understanding between our Muslim and Christian Students. It is also designed to provide Islamic - based spiritual formation for our Muslim students separate from the Spiritual Formation Programs implemented by the institution.
