In connection to St. Michael’s College’s continuing pursuit for faith, service, and excellence, the school launches a bigger, bolder, and more comprehensive edition of the school’s handbook which is entitled GABAY 2010. Crafted from the brilliant minds of the administrators as chaired by the Vice President for Administration, Dr. Romero C. Hermosilla, the handbook brings a better and more vibrant way of presenting the school’s offices, colleges, mission and vision, rules, policies, and regulations which is bound to suit the taste of the students as well as the faculty.
A hybrid of sorts, the handbook is said to possess the qualities of a magazine through its photos and images of the students and the school. Also, it is similar to a catalog, showcasing the different colleges, departments and societies/ organization. And it is also said to be likened to a manual, presenting the rules, policies, and regulations of the school, bound together in an aesthetically pleasing brown cover with the school’s seal and also having stone designs symbolizing an unfolding growth which has been tested all through out ups and downs.
To mention, the handbook includes features such as acronyms, information on St. Michael the archangel who is the patron of Iligan and to whom the school got it’s name from, the life story of Venerable Ignacia del Espiritu Santo, the foundress of the RVM congregation, and an overview of the different colleges, departments, rules, and policies of the school. But this edition would just the same and the transformation would not be complete without the newly added features such as an all new lay-out which is very much different from the handbook’s predecessors, photo exhibits on facilities, programs and Michaelites themselves, trivia on various programs, projects and activities of the school plus other diagrams, also it provides enrichment of general policies, it also covers policies regarding the graduate school, and policies regarding board courses such as Criminology, Nursing, Accountancy and Education. Indeed this edition of GABAY is one of a kind.
Initially launched on the freshmen and transferees orientation last June 28, 2010 at the gym, the students faces brightened with excitement as if grabbing a pack of candy from a candy shop as they received copies of the handbook one by one. Moving forward, the handbooks were once again distributed to the old students of the different colleges of the school during the Students General Orientation last June 29, 2010. And currently, the Deans’ offices are being flocked by students of the different colleges who were unable to join the assemblies and wanting to get a copy.
Amazing, nice, and very informative, these are just of some of the descriptions that the students who already have a copy of the handbook have been uttering. So if you don’t have a one yet, don’t get left behind and visit the Deans’ Office to grab one. Be guided, get informed, and get ready to be inspired.
