Senior High School Department won as the first-ever Over-all Champion during the Division Schools Press Conference 2016 held last August 24-26, 2016 at Tambo Central School with the theme “Promoting K to 12 Basic Education Program as a Transformative Vehicle for Local and National Development for Campus Journalism”.
SMC won in the following events:

Photojournalism (English), Edejed Paculba;
1st Place in Feature Writing (English and Filipino), Kassandra A. Buenafe and Andrea Escarpe;
1st Runner-up in Photojournalism (Filipino), Adrian Bhramz Illupa;
Sports Writing (English and Filipino), Melbon Ganzan and Grace Joy Bade
2nd Place in Editorial Writing (Filipino), Jamaliah Nasrodin;
3rd Place in Science and Health Writing, Mary Rose Jorza;
2nd Runner-up in Editorial Cartooning (English), Jan Paolo Lumpaz;
4th and 3rd Place in Copy Reading and Headline Writing (English and Filipino);
4th Place in Editorial Cartooning (Filipino), Benosa;
5th Place in News Writing (English), Ella Layno
in Collaborative Desktop Publishing (English), SMC bagged the 3rd place and Best in Photography; Collaborative Desktop Publishing (Filipino) got the 2nd Place, best in Editorial Writing, Best in Editorial Cartooning and Best News Story. Eight students will advance in the Regional Schools Press Conference on November 8-10 at Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
